Westpac Stadium

My feet were firmly on the concrete platform, the furious gusting wind of Wellington battered us aggressively but the sun was still shining. A grey headed man appeared through the entrance, we gathered in a bunch. The man was our tour guide and his decreasing volume of voice was in a tight tussle to overcome the continuous wind to talk us. He talked about the History of Westpac Stadium, and rules regarding the tour, his words gave great interest to me. Soon the wind was turned into the subtle warmth of the inside of the Stadium. My eyes gazed at the structure as we went threw the stadium. We were seated in the stands looking down on the pitch. The stadium was a magnificent site and how it was designed for different purposes and needs. The yellow sets glisten in the sunlight. The anticipation that I had waited for had come.

The tour guide opened the metal door and instructed us we could run out the tunnel but not on the grass for some reasons. I ran out and looked at my shirt and the stadium, pitch and thought ‘’ maybe this could be me one day ‘’. We entered the changing rooms, my eyes sparkled, my mind opened and I thought what a honour to be here in this room where past and present athletes ( especially rugby players and their coaches/management ). I looked with joy at the showers, ice bath, warm up / physio room and last of all the lockers. I took great pleasure being able to have the privilege to sit in them. To put the cherry on top I was asked by Miss Hogebrug to say thanks to the tour guide and I did it with satisfaction. As we left I still had a smile from the start.
