PATAKA AA ART GALLERY

 27/11/2014
I entered the galley thinking it would be a waste of time, but as soon as my eyes set site on the pieces of a wonderful creative man's work,  my prospective change into to something rather amazing. I glared at the pieces with incredible interest how can this man named Peter Madden present this elaborate way. The details were fascinating all different animals were everywhere, chairs, worlds and more were all put together into collages, and other forms of art.

I looked deep into a piece of his and got lost in a wonderful mysterious world my body was in appreciation and desire to see more pieces and learn what drives his creativeness to produce pieces at this quality. The staff of the gallery that took us on the tour started to explain the story and what his motivation is. Every point and fact was great to learn and think about.

His ideas were vast turning plain old fashion shoes into a work of art, and all the pieces had a story to tell. Maybe one day I might have a piece on the wall.

Westpac Stadium

My feet were firmly on the concrete platform, the furious gusting wind of Wellington battered us aggressively but the sun was still shining. A grey headed man appeared through the entrance, we gathered in a bunch. The man was our tour guide and his decreasing volume of voice was in a tight tussle to overcome the continuous wind to talk us. He talked about the History of Westpac Stadium, and rules regarding the tour, his words gave great interest to me. Soon the wind was turned into the subtle warmth of the inside of the Stadium. My eyes gazed at the structure as we went threw the stadium. We were seated in the stands looking down on the pitch. The stadium was a magnificent site and how it was designed for different purposes and needs. The yellow sets glisten in the sunlight. The anticipation that I had waited for had come.

The tour guide opened the metal door and instructed us we could run out the tunnel but not on the grass for some reasons. I ran out and looked at my shirt and the stadium, pitch and thought ‘’ maybe this could be me one day ‘’. We entered the changing rooms, my eyes sparkled, my mind opened and I thought what a honour to be here in this room where past and present athletes ( especially rugby players and their coaches/management ). I looked with joy at the showers, ice bath, warm up / physio room and last of all the lockers. I took great pleasure being able to have the privilege to sit in them. To put the cherry on top I was asked by Miss Hogebrug to say thanks to the tour guide and I did it with satisfaction. As we left I still had a smile from the start.

MSI

The furiously gusting wind battered us through the harbour, the sea breeze sprayed up. I gripped tightly against the front of the barrier as the ferry was aggressively moving from side to side. My eyes were fascinated at the sight of the deep blue sea, the Wellington city, and the green island called Maui Somes Island. We slowly stopped and unboarded the ferry. After a lecture and a rule talk we were of in groups to explore the island…..

We hiked up the track, bushes, trees, plants surrounded us as well as the harmonising noises of the chirping birds. I strucked a conversation with a student's parent who nicely volunteered his time, money to accompany us on camp. We talked with interest about topics that we thought needed to be discussed. Water soon found the back of my throat turning my pain of hydration into been bloated with water. The island brought tiredness so it was the cause of many breaks.

On the way back on the ferry I thought to myself what a wonderful day on Maui Somes Island…….

Te Papa

November 24 2014

The warmth of Te Papa gave me a relaxing feeling from the harsh gusting wind of Wellington. We waited in the entrance of Te Papa and majority of the students were fascinated of a the rotating water ball sculpture in the middle of the entrance,  which they were surrounding and touching it. Te Papa was a free educational historical place that was open for the public for free maybe that was the reason why so many was coming to Te Papa.? The reason why were at this building was to participate in the tarana siouris exhibition.

We were greeted by a educator doing the exhibition, he firmly but clearly stated us the question of what we know. Hands quickly were raised into the air and words flew out of our mouths, then after a talk we got given a hands on activity to sort out pacific family groups of the dinosaurs. There was agreement, frustration, arguing, suggestions and continues conversation amongst us. After the timely but interesting activity we respectively made our way up the floors to the place where the exhibition was placed.

We roamed around with our clipboards, pens, and sheet that was given to us to complete the questions. I had a sense of frustration that was annoying me as we had to hunt and write down the answers, loads of information was  placed on the wall. I politely asked people for the answers some accepted but some turned there back to me, huge dinosaurs bones was over crowding me as stood tall glaring at me. I looked at them with interest they were enclosed in a glass box it made me feel like I was in the BC. I could image the loud thunderous roars of the dinosaurs been released out of there mouths. The room was filled with conversation and laughs but soon I could only hear the bitter gusting wind and the traffic of Wellington.

Buddy writing

The fluffy black and grey kitten is praying. The whiskers are pointing out and it makes me want to cuddle it. The kitten looks like a tiger, the little paws joining together. The kittens eyes are closed, the kitten looks cute, and is crying with sadness.

Free Writing

Beech.jpg

I entered the hut. Straw surrounded me and the sea side view caught my eye at first sight. The island gave me a warm  welcome feel; the friendly locals and the tropical paradise made me feel at home. I unpacked and made my way to the shore of the island. I had sunscreen all over me and I was wearing loose clothing that gave me a sense of relaxation. Colours surrounded me: the crystal clear blues of the ocean, the golden colours of the sand, greens of the bushes and palms trees - but most of all the traditional colored clothing of the locals. The scent of the foods around the island filled the air and my stomach involuntarily gave a rumble. The laughs and traditional music caught my ears attention. After such a beautiful day, I thought to myself, what a day in paradise.

Leadership Conference

The leadership conference taught me many values and attributes that I can show as a leader. The conference had a lot of speakers and they taught me great things about leadership. Two speakers really stood out for me. First was Hastings Boys High School Head boy / first fifteen Captain Joe. He inspired me to stand up as a leader and said some really strong messages like have a good attitude, have fun, make someone's day, choosing your attitude stood out and made me think on how I can improve my attitude. The other speaker that stood out was Paora Winitana. Paora, has  previously coached me  in basketball and has influenced me with  his messages and how I  can use the messages  at home, school and in the community. Both speakers gave me confidence and messages that could help me in future leadership roles. The day was fun, inspiring, motivating and overall a great experience.

Buddy Writing

Me and my buddy Charlotte who is seven had to create a descriptive piece of writing using a image. Charlotte chose.

On the plane there is purple, white, pink colours on the outside. There are big marshmallow clouds that are coloured red orange and white. The wings are moving , people are looking out of the window and the jets are spinning fast making it windy. The plane is flying in the sky up high as the night was coming, you could see the sun setting. The plane looked like a purple bird flying up high in the sky.

Descriptive Writing

As I walked on the swing bridge I could feel the unstableness of the structure. Sweat dripped off me like a waterfall. I could hear the noises of the jungle chirping , roars , bangs and the sound of the wooden planks cracking upon my feet. The ropes were there for support but I felt like I had no security , my body was in shock. How am I going to conjure this mountain of fear but as time past I finally broke my barrier of fear and began to walk.. Step by Step,  I brushed my hand along the faded white ropes, that had teared and had been a victim of the jungle weather and surroundings. I had finally gone over the swing bridge and was going to continue though the terrain of the jungle.

The Rugby Field

The field had usual enough ; it had
lines , grass , posts , flags , and a sky upon it.
My teammates , coaches , my family members , spectators , the referee and I do what I do at the rugby -

My favourite piece of writing

The nerves and frustrations were melting in my head, was I going to win or not that was the two words that were repeating in my my head., We were on course number 16 in Taupo mini golf it looked like it was going to a thriller of a finish the scores felt like they were pretty close so I had to play smart and safe 1 2 3 I couldn't believe it Cayleb Rauto had got a hole in one and on the other hand I had got a hole in 2 and my mum had got a hole in 3. I took to my normal positions at the start of the course boom boom I could feel my heart thumping Cayleb swung , 2 Cayleb said in a excited voice it was a close score again. Hole 18 the last hole, for the last time I took my position I felt so professional like I was tiger woods but of course not I wasn't him no where as good as him or as rich as him and we were just at a mini golf course not a pounce golf course like pros use. Whoosh as the breeze brushed passed me as I swung, dammit it wasn't the dream hit I imagined to be like, I finished the hole with a score of 3 after we had all a turn we head did to the office to hand in our golf clubs then the time came the grand finally was upon us how had won, Its a tie Cayleb expressed in a disappointed voice. well as the day came to a close we decided to head to MacDonald to feed our disappointed and our hunger then we headed back to my aunt's new house and relaxed for the night.

I liked this piece of writing because it sums up my holiday which was fun.

I need to improve on my variety of sentences starters.
